Craftsmanship & Materials

At the heart of our work is a respectful encounter with natural materials — their structure, behavior, and evolution over time. Materials are approached with care and restraint, acknowledging their origin and natural behavior over time. Each element contributes its own presence, shaped through growth, environment, and use. Through careful refinement and thoughtful design, we reveal inherent character, creating pieces that are tactile, restrained, and distinctly contemporary.

Natural Color Variations of Talipot Bodhi Seed

Original Ivory

The original tone of the Talipot Bodhi seed presents as a soft, milky ivory. After polishing, the surface develops a smooth, jade-like tactility. This coloration reflects the seed in its least altered state, emphasizing material density and natural surface integrity.

Honey Yellow to Deep Brown

As the seeds undergo natural oxidation over time, their color gradually deepens. Beginning with pale straw yellow, the surface matures into creamy honey tones before settling into warm reddish-brown hues. This slow transformation creates a natural patina with subtle gradients and an aged, lived-in character — each strand shaped uniquely by time and environment.

Naturally Occurring Green

In rare cases, Talipot Bodhi seeds develop green or grey-green marbling when fallen fruit remains in prolonged humid conditions. This natural breakdown process produces quiet, organic mottling that cannot be replicated or controlled. Each bead carries a distinct surface pattern, reinforcing the unrepeatable nature of the material.

In our work, the material is valued for its natural presence — shaped by growth, climate, and time.

About KURASHIKI HAMPU

KURASHIKI HAMPU is a heritage Japanese cotton canvas from Kurashiki, crafted through a production lineage dating back to 1888. Its signature hand comes from a traditional thread-twisting technique - several 100% cotton yarns are twisted together to form a thread that’s both strong and supple - then woven slowly on carefully maintained shuttle looms. Each loom produces only about 50 - 70 meters per day, creating a uniquely rich texture and character you can feel.

We chose it for this mixed-material series to keep our bags lighter and more natural - effortless to wear, yet still refined. Every piece is carefully edited through repeated prototyping, clean single-strap shoulder bags with no extra strap to slip, and knot clutches finished with a discreet magnetic closure. Nothing decorative without purpose - only the most considered details remain.
